By the end of this course the student will:
- Understand the background of spinal TB
- Know the basic anatomy of the spine
- Understand the basic pathophysiology and spread of spinal TB
- Know the risk factors for developing spinal TB
- Have an understanding of the clinical presentation of spinal TB
- Understand the subjective and physical assessment required for an individual with suspected spinal TB
- Understand the role of the primary health care clinic in the detection of spinal TB at an early stage
- Understand the role of the primary health care clinic in the management of spinal TB
- Know the conservative management, drug management and surgical management strategies for spinal TB
- Be able to apply the algorithm to clinical case scenarios
